The first role of internal audit is the primary one of providing assurance and a secondary, optional role can be in providing consultancy, where it is clearly specified as being non audit work.
The HIAF can provide independent advice on all Tenant Services Authority internal audit matters, including:
- Facilitating the Risk Management process
- Devising an Audit Needs Assessment and Audit Plan
- The contents and circulation of an Internal Audit Assurance Statement
- Guidance on key manual and IT controls anticipated in the operational procedures of HAs
- Access to specialist knowledge
