Has your association been touched by Fraud? How have you dealt with it?
We are pleased to have three speakers today who approach the subject of Fraud from different perspectives. Frank Nesbitt Forensic Manager from Tait Walker Chartered Accountants, David Horn, Business Development Manager from Sapphire and Darren Shillington, National Fraud Initiative Project Manager with the Audit Commission.
There will be a discussion session to ‘compare notes’ on the different types of Fraud that we have experienced and more importantly how we can help prevent fraud.
As always there will be ample opportunity to network with fellow professionals during the day.

Please note that the Seminar is being held at Charlestown House (shown in the top corner of the map). Charlestown House is a five minute taxi ride from Shipley Railway Station, and is fifteen minutes by taxi from Leeds Bradford Airport

10.30 - 11.30 Frank Nesbitt - Forensic Service Manager, Tait Walker Chartered Accountants.
Frank Nesbitt is a retired Northumbria police officer, having served 30 years almost entirely as a detective and the last 13 years of service, Frank was in the Economic Crime Unit and investigated all manner of fraud from probate fraud to public sector corruption. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Computer Crime Unit at this Police Force. Tait Walker is one of the leading firms of independent Chartered Accountants in the North East, with offices in Newcastle, Tees Valley and Northumberland.
11.30 - 12.30 David Horn – Business Development Manager - Sapphire
Sapphire is an independent security advisor that specialises in business consultancy, computer forensics, business assurance and technical consultancy. Sapphire provides a comprehensive information assurance service to their customer base and the entire organisation is ISO27001 certified.
Clients include major blue chip organisations, many local government associations, some of the higher levels of central government and their agencies, police forces and security forces.

13.30 - 14.30 Darren Shillington – NFI Project Manager - Audit Commission
Darren will be talking exclusively about the recent and on going National Fraud Initiative which some Housing Associations have taken part in.
The National Fraud Initiative (NFI) is the Audit Commission’s data matching exercise that tackles a broad range of fraud risks faced by the public sector. The NFI has been embedded in the statutory external audit process for audited and inspected bodies since 1998 and is currently run every two years. The results from the most recent exercise (NFI 2004/05) broke all previous NFI records, enabling participants across the UK to identify over 111 million worth of fraud and overpayments.
