10.45 “Mystic Meg: What Will be the Legal issues for RSLs in 2008 and Beyond" - Nick Billingham and Andrew Cowan, Partners at Devonshires solicitors
Nick heads up Devonshires' Housing Management Team and has been involved in a number of high profile housing cases in the Appeal Courts including the House of Lords case of Kay -v- Lambeth (2007) - the leading case on human rights and housing.
Andrew is head of Devonshires' RSL Banking and Corporate Department. Andrew's team has negotiated over £3 billion of housing association funding since 1988 from stock markets, banks and building societies.
11.45 Housing Association Inspection - Ben Taylor, Housing Resources Manager at The Audit Commission
Ben has worked for the Commission for ten years, initially as an external auditor in local government through various roles at the corporate centre and now in the Housing Inspectorate. He is ideally placed to outline the Commission’s current thinking on inspection.

1.30 Draft BS31100 – Code of Practice for Risk Management – The British Standards Institute
BS 31100 is the British Standards Code of Practice presently being drafted by the BSI Technical Committee to provide a basis for understanding, developing, implementing and maintaining proportionate and effective risk management within any organisation to enhance the likelihood of successfully achieving objectives, and to provide recommendations for the framework, process and implementation of risk management. The British Standard Institute has been invited to provide a representative to give an overview of the draft.
2.15 How to Audit Risk Management – Ian Cutts, Assistant Director of Risk Management, TIAA Ltd
Risk Management is not about ticking a box to signify compliance. Risk Management is about instilling an organisation-wide culture of risk awareness and risk control. Ian will outline an approach to conducting a review of the risk management process, based on practical experiences of carrying out such reviews in a variety of sectors.
