14.00 ‘Risk at home: privacy and security risks in telecommuting’ – Nicki Hermansson, Manager, Technology and Security Risk Services, Ernst & Young LLP
Ernst & Young has just conducted a study with the Centre for Democracy & Technology, and the resulting report named in the title of this session is based on a survey of the current state of privacy and security considerations in work-from-home arrangements. The report highlights the responses of the participating organisations, and describes steps that organisations can take to improve the protection of personal and other confidential information in teleworking situations. It addresses policies, process, and technology adaptations that should be made to mitigate the risks. Now that so many of us employ home based staff to provide front line services, the findings should be of considerable interest.
Nicola is a member of the Ernst & Young data privacy and protection team, which plays a leading role assisting UK and global companies to address their data protection and privacy compliancy risks. The team is part of Ernst & Young's technology and security risk services practice, which is staffed by over 4,000 dedicated professionals globally who are skilled in regulatory and IT risk management.
