Risk Seminar - March 08

Nearly 40 people attended our recent seminar hosted by Genesis Housing covering risk issues. Our speakers Nick Billingham and Andrew Cowan of Devonshires identified some of the legal issues impacting on housing associations, including how the credit crunch and Ujima problems were changing banks perceptions at the sector. Ben Taylor of the Audit Commission took us through the inspection process, highlighted the forthcoming short notice inspections and asked why ALMOs could get better scores than local authorities and housing associations. Richard Anderson took us through the new BS31100: Code of Practice for Risk Management; Nicola Rogers and Mark Thompson of Ernst and Young highlighted data privacy issues and the possibility that the Information Commissioner might get tougher powers; and finally Ian Cutts of TIAA discussed how to audit the risk management process.

Copies of all the presentations given can be found in the conference and events section of the website.

We would like to thank our host Genesis, all our speakers and their employers. If you attended, do complete the post event questionnaire. Alternatively, let Paul McLoughlin know of any comments you have.
