2009 Annual Conference is launched

The world around us is changing rapidly, and internal audit’s ability to adapt to change is the focus of our always popular residential conference for all involved in internal audit in housing associations. Whether you’re directly employed or an external provider, managing the audit contract or a board member, there will be something here for you. In the present economic climate, do we need to go back to basics to concentrate on the fundamental issues of risk and internal audit’s response to it? Assurance is all about protecting our organisations from the unexpected, and one of the best ways of contributing to a successful future might be through reinforcing old values, giving assurance that the key systems underpinning high-risk areas are sound.

The HA Internal Audit Forum goes from strength to strength, as those of you who attend our free members seminars or visit our website at hiaf.org will confirm. A growing reputation for top-line speakers on a wide variety of subjects means that you’ve come to expect a quality product from the Forum, and that’s what we have planned for you early next year. We’ve confirmed our speakers and the programme, and the conference and events section of out website will be updated regularly as any further information becomes available.

The timing and location have been carefully selected after consideration of past feedback, and our dates of 20/21 January 2009 should avoid committee dates and year end pressures for most of you. Our location at the prestigious Alveston Manor Hotel, Stratford-on-Avon provides a warm, congenial atmosphere where any post-Christmas blues can be banished for a couple of days while we look at the state of internal audit in the sector. Ideal surroundings, too for networking with colleagues who have the same issues and concerns as ourselves, as well as enjoying the social and entertainment opportunities on offer.

We’ve based the hotel bedroom bookings on last year’s numbers, so if you wish to attend the whole conference please book early to secure your accommodation in the hotel. Our ‘Early Bird’ rates are designed to encourage you to do so, and save money at the same time.

We’re already looking forward to welcoming you to the conference.
