A new regulatory framework for social housing in England 'What are your views?

The Tenant Services Authority published its latest consultative document on regulating the housing sector in November. The new framework includes a clear focus on de-regulation and reducing burdens where appropriate. This includes a commitment to remove the requirements from all previous guidance and circulars issued by the Housing Corporation, where possible. This amounts to the Regulatory Code and Guidance; 54 circulars (of a total of 58) and all good practice notes. Requirements set out in circular 07/07 and Good Practice Note 15, which set out a clear framework for risk management, internal controls assurance, internal audit and the prevention and detection of fraud, will therefore be removed.

The Executive Committee will be formulating a response from HIAF. In order to do this, we would like to know your views on the proposals: eg. should the regulator outline minimum requirements for internal audit? You can share your views in the HIAF Discussion Forum.
